Here's a step-by-step procedure for making a crochet puff stitch sweater:


Materials:


- 🌞Medium-weight yarn (approx. 500g)

- 🌞Size J (6.0mm) crochet hook

- 🌞Tapestry needle

- 🌞Scissors

- 🌞Stitch markers (optional)


Gauge:

12 puff stitches x 7 rows = 4 inches (10 cm)


Abbreviations:


- ch = chain

- puff = puff stitch (see Special Stitches below)

- sc = single crochet

- st = stitch

- sl st = slip stitch


Procedure:


1. Body of Sweater:


Ch 64 (or any multiple of 4 plus 3).

Row 1: puff in 4th ch from hook, puff in each st across, turn. (63 puff stitches)

Row 2 - 7: ch 3 (counts as first puff), puff in each st across, turn.

2. Shape Armholes:

Ch 3, puff2tog (see Special Stitches below), puff in each st across, turn. (31 puff stitches)

Repeat the previous row until armhole measures 2 inches (5 cm).


3. Shape Neckline:

Ch 3, puff2tog, puff in each st across, turn. (15 puff stitches)

Repeat the previous row until neckline measures 1 inch (2.5 cm).


4. Sleeves:

Ch 24 (or any multiple of 4 plus 3).

Row 1: puff in 4th ch from hook, puff in each st across, turn. (23 puff stitches)

Repeat Row 2 - 7 of Body until sleeve measures 4 inches (10 cm).


5. Assembly:

Sew sleeves to body, aligning armholes.

Sew sides and shoulders together.

Weave in ends.

- Puff Stitch (puff): (Insert hook in st, yarn over, draw up a loop) 3 times, yarn over, draw through all 4 loops on hook.
